Guns, Ghost, and Growing Older

I know I’ve been a little AWOL around here, so I figured it was time to check back in. Life’s been busy, messy, and full of changes—some good, some not so great.

The Big 4-0

Back in July I hit the milestone—40. I didn’t really do anything special to celebrate. With Ghost being sick, we didn’t want to take any risks or be too far from home. Honestly though, I’m okay with that. It’s just another year, and there’s plenty ahead.

New Gun Day

I did treat myself, though. I finally bought a gun I’ve wanted for a long time: the FN 509. Took it out this past weekend for the first time and I’ve got to say, I love it. The grip and trigger are definitely different from my Glocks, but for a first time out, I don’t think I did too bad. Excited to spend more time with it at the range.

I am going to have to buy another Condition1 case. We're full. Maybe hot pink one. You know, his and hers.

The Ghost-Man

Ghost is hanging in there. His latest checkup confirmed what we already suspected—his airway collapse is in the end-stage. We don’t know how much time he has left, but we’re making the most of it while we can. The good news is he’s sleeping through the night, which has been a huge relief. For now, he’s still our goofy, lovable guy, and that’s what matters.

His Instagram is where I post most of the news and fun pictures/videos of the little guy. Check him out at ghost_thechieenie.

Big News for Kristin

On the brighter side, Kristin got promoted! She’s now a supervisor, which is awesome. One step closer to Chief. Looks like Oklahoma will be home for a while longer, and that’s perfectly fine with us.

MS & Me

As for me, walking has been hit or miss. Some days are decent, others… not so much. MS is a fickle beast, but I just keep pushing through. I see myself grabbing for the rollator or cane a lot more now than I have ever before.

Writing > Reading

Lately, I’ve been writing more than reading, which feels good. My book draft is sitting at around 160 pages now. It’s been a long process, but I’m loving where it’s going. Can’t wait to see how it all comes together.
